« on: December 29, 2015, 01:41:39 PM »
UAV registration long discussed is now becoming a reality starting December 21, 2015:

It's "free" for those early registering owner/operators.

Remember these simple safety guidelines when
flying your unmanned aircraft: This includes Helis, Planes, Multis (anything RC FLown)

Don't be careless or reckless with your UAS
Fly below 400 feet and remain clear of obstacles
Stay away from other aircraft at all times
Keep your UAS within your sight
Don't fly near airports, stadiums, or other people
Don't fly under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Keep away from emergency responders

Dave-

What's so sad is that the "rules" succinctly posted by you are so hard for some owner/operators to follow.

Not to mention that there will be some out there that thinks they are above the law, or simply don't care .

Those are the ones who I am worried about .

But a great point JB

Tim- I agree.  The "entitled", anti-social, and sociopathic UAV/UAS owner/operators are a real threat.  And despite what ultimately happens with this UAV/UAS registration craziness, this type of O/O will just keep on flying and "doing their thing".  :-(

I can "almost" excuse stupid and ignorant owner/operators for unsafe/irresponsible operation of their RC aircraft, but I will not.

What me, fly under the affluence of inkerhol? Surely not.

Seriously though, there are those who do and will. It's always the minority who make the majority suffer.

"Drone users face jail time, fines if they don't register"
http://thehill.com/policy/transportation/270297-drone-users-face-fines-jail-time-for-not-registering-devices

"Drone users are facing the possibility of fines up to $27,500 and even jail time if they have not registered their devices with the federal government.

The Federal Aviation Administration's Feb. 19 deadline for drone registrations, which was set in December, has now passed.

The agency says "failure to register an aircraft may result in regulatory and criminal sanctions."

"The FAA may assess civil penalties up to $27,500," the FAA said in a frequently asked questions post on its website. "Criminal penalties include fines of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment for up to three years."

These fines and penalties ain't no FN joke! Where is the love for the hobbyist?
